Summary: Supports production operations to meet production schedule dates through effective die preparation and maintenance activities.  Provides timely, effective completion of prototype and special project tooling jobs.

 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities include the following:

  • Performs maintenance or repair with details from the Database.
  • Trouble shoots dies in the tool room or in the press with the other members of tool room.
  • Accurately maintains tool and die repair sheets and pull sheets for Database entry.  Plans for follow-up and provides sketches to Engineering.
  • Maintains inventory of perishable tooling, details, etc.
  • Maintain neat, organized work area.  Work with co-workers to maintain housekeeping and safety practices of entire shop consistently.
  •          Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures, including environmental and quality standards.
  •          Construct and repair new and existing dies, fixtures, gauges, etc.
  •         Construct replacement die parts
  •         Set-up and operate all department equipment including: turning, grinding, milling, drilling and cutoff machines, cutting tools, etc.
  •         May interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, or other employees to construct and repair new or existing dies
  •         Ensure quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy of assigned work
  • Provides diagnosis of die repair requirements, damage, and solutions to dimensional problems with stamping dies.

3.    Works under the supervision of the Tool Room Supervisor.

4.    Is skillful in the operation of typically used related tools, materials, and equipment.

Education and/or Experience:

Journeyman in tool and die or equivalent, prior work experience preferably in a stamping environment.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are

representative of those that must be met by an employee to

successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

1.    The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

2.    The employee frequently is required to: stand, walk, bend and reach (both above and below the shoulder).

3.    The employee is occasionally required to: climb, push, or pull items.

4.    While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to: use both hands, talk, hear and see.

  1. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
